The Smorgasbord

So today we headed downtown to try and catch Barack Obama and his appearance in Grand Rapids. Unfortunately, we didn't make it in time and were in the "overflow" section which worked out just fine, we could see the podium and everything....until fire marshall kicked us outside. We were fortunate enough to see him wave as he entered the stage then had to listen from outside as John Edwards and then Barack gave speeches. I couldn't believe there were so many people there, the arena was full and outside on the streets was packed as well. We waited outside where he was supposed to make his appearance after the speech, but because of security reasons (we're guessing) he didn't end up coming outside afterwards. Which was a MAJOR bummer, because we had a prime spot to see him and quite possibly get a hand shake. All in all it was an amazing experience, and we're glad we ventured down to see it all!
